I liked this.

There wasn't much to this short movie, but what was there was stylish and visually decent.

Hopefully you can make something with a plot. You already can draw well.

I liked.

Fun to watch, and I liked your use of action lines in the backgrounds.

Would have been better if there was maybe an updated hot version of Penny in it, though. :p That and a music sync problem with the first song.

I'll go watch your other flash movies now.

Nice work. Why? It ENTERTAINED me.

Sure, this was no brilliant visual or audio effort. But it was funny and I know enough about FOTNS to get the exploding nuts (instead of head) thing.

Simple, amatuerish cartoons like this is why I check out Newgrounds. It's fun.

Good work.

Heheheh.

"I have OCD, I tap myself two times every time I talk"

"Yes! Alright!"

I LOLOLed several times to this flash, this is proof that bad art can't stop a good sense of humor. In fact, bad art fits comedy like this. I'm glad this was long. Too many NG viewers have too much ADD to watch anything for more than 10 seconds. Good work, and congrats surviving the portal with it.

Keep flashing!

TurkeySandwich responds:

here is the thing that people judt dont seem to understand...we are not flash "artists". We are two guys that use flash to get are mind numbing points across. We only submit things to entertain people not to progress some sort of flash career. So watch the freaking movie and get ovet the fact that a retarded monkey could have drawn them...because for all you know one did

Not bad, got my 5 vote!

I'm not a SEED fan at all, (strictly an old Universal Century Gundam watcher) so I didn't catch the discrepancies. This wasn't too bad. Deserves a higher score than its current 2.07 one. How often on NG do you see someone try to animate big mech battles and have it make visual sense? Despite the shortness and lack of story of this you pulled it off IMO. Good work.

Learning to make a preloader should be the first step any flashmaker learns. Go find out how and add it to this flash and update it, it would go a long way to improving it. And at least add a < stop> code to the end to keep it from looping.

Now I need to get back to work. Keep flashin'.

Wow, man!

I took a few months off Newgrounds, and come back see you with a 4+ flash near the top 50?

I knew you had the touch. Your work has always been quality, ever since I first saw Chillin'.

Shame I've been so busy and out of touch lately. Seeing your rise to NG prominence is as inspiring as this movie's story! I liked the sweeping in visuals at the beginning and the basketball playing scene especially.

AligatorHead responds:

oh Thanks IMpetus. THats cool how you've noticed my progression.
im glad you enjyoed the basketball part.

Hahahaha, Great!!

HAHAH you used the OMD song "Enola Gay." You are awesome. I thought while watching the beginning of the intro: "cool, another serious TMNT tribute", but then you made it into an even greater spoof comedy. Oh, and "Endless Love", too. LOLOLOLOL

You gave a piece of advice "anime"artists need.

Just like your review on my movie, the complaint is the same: I didn't like the music. A button to turn it off would have been nice.

But let's put aside our differences in musical taste and talk about something we have in common, and that's art. I liked that you use the method of "cross on the face". I do that as well, it ensures that one does not draw one eye higher than the other Off-set eyes are a common mistake of "anime artists" on the internet and the quickest way I can tell that an artist sucks. Hopefully some people can take you advice and draw better faces.

I also liked your "45-degree angle" rule for breasts... Tits are not always exactly like that but it's a good rule to keep anyway. A piece of advice I should add to any reader in general when drawing breasts: the height of nipples are usually about one head-length down from the bottom of one's chin.

All in all a good drawing tut but you could have made a more professional-looking preloader and perhaps added something like a frame around the perimeter so that you'd have more than a plain white background.

skull-basher responds:

thank you for the constructive critizism...I am making another tutorial right now and its about drawing anime eyes....I am improving alot and my buttons work much better and there is a button for music..

LOL, ROFL, LMAO, et cetera.

The hardcore end theme was hilarious.

And the opening theme still is *the greatest* original theme song on NG. I watch CTF movies just to hear that. The actual jokes in the cartoon are okay, but it's the music that makes the show for me.

(oh wait, that doesn't really rhyme)

Nice short.

I disagree with the large amount of reviewers who think this is "too short", for if this movie were any longer it would have ruined the simple joke.

How did you do the "focus blur" effect toward the end? I've been wanting to do the same in Flash MX but haven't figured out how to yet. I know you can blur an image using something like Photoshop and import it to Flash, but it looks like you did it in Flash, and if you did I'd like to know how.

Ty107 responds:

What you do is, export what you want to blur from flash to a .png. Open an image editing program and blur the image. Then, import it back into Flash. Take the image that you blurred, make it into a graphic, create a new layer for the graphic, and what you are gonna do is make a tween. On the first frame of the tween, make the graphic so that it is alphaed (so that it is completely transparent), and goto the end of the tween and make it so it is visible. So what you are doing is tweening the blurred image over what you want to be blurred. If you have any questions, you could contact me through AIM, "The Anomaly 000" is my s/n.

Note: My "Favorite Flash Movies" are not necessarily my "favorites"; Instead I have chosen to feature lesser-known work that I believe deserves attention. Many of my true "favorites" are in the top 50 and get plenty of exposure anyway.
